What We Do

After a brief phone call with an intake specialist, we can determine if our services might be a good fit for your specific situation. Not all potential clients will fall within our scope or be appropriate for our services. We make that determination to ensure that you are being treated by the right process.

Following that, we will schedule an initial consultation with either the parents of the child (the child is not in attendance), or the adult who we are planning on seeing. This initial consultation is an important step that gives us a richer background and understanding of what variables are involved in the case.

If, after the consult, we feel that our practice is still an appropriate fit and you feel that we provide a process that will be helpful, we can move forward to assign the most appropriate counselor to manage the case.

Our focus, first and foremost, is to establish a strong relationship with our clientele so they feel supported, seen, and understood. Without a committed and consistent working relationship, the therapeutic process becomes far less effective. Many clients share stories about previous therapists who "didn't understand" their child or situation and the therapy was not helpful enough to continue.

While establishing that connection, we are also putting priority into evaluation and assessment. Going beyond a standard bio/psycho/social evaluation, our team works hard to understand the context in which are clients live. We ask ourselves questions like these: What identities have they formed in life? Where is their latent potential being ignored? How do they process the world around them? Who else is involved in the development of this person? Why do they seem to be struggling? Our process also focuses on whether or not further evaluation is necessary to understand the problem set the client is bringing into the therapeutic setting.
