PARENT COACHING

What to Expect

We rely heavily on the relationship that we can create with parents.  We tell everyone who comes into our practice "You have to like us to work with us and we have to like you." Our first intention is to establish the best relationship we can as early on as we can. In the parent coaching process, we often find that parents are overwhelmed and desperate for immediate help.  So in some situations we will provide very concrete, pragmatic support, solutions, and interventions. Because we know that if the parent are not OK, there's no way we can help the child.

What Makes Us Different

We always offer to be available to parents as much as possible because we know, particularly in the early part of our process, they are overwhelmed and need support and guidance. People will often say, "Are you sure I can call you?" We have found that, in most cases, that offer is not abused. Parents reaching out to us is an important part of our process.

Limitations

As with all of our counseling services, if the issues presented are out of the scope of our practice, we will make determinations regarding the level of counseling and support we can provide. There may be situations where there are untreated or unstable mental health situations, complicated legal situations, and/or siutations of abuse or addiction that would make our process not viable for services.
